commissioned by the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Fund
Stevie Ray Vaughan's music endures through his many recordings. With that in mind this memorial to the late Texas guitarist concentrates on the man behind the musician.
The site was designed by the artist and Tom Randall, a landscape architect for the City, with the aim of creating a contemplative enclave within a large park.
Sculpture and site were designed by the artist, aiming to create a contemplative enclave within a large park.
The figure is unapologetically realistic; the bronze shadow--showing him playing guitar--is a metaphor for his musical legacy.
